Before our seniors left for the semester, the Geosciences department was able to present our Mineralogical Society of America award to Kate Pippenger ’20 and Christian Lockwood ’20.
The MSA award is for the senior(s) with the best record in courses in Mineralogy and Petrology, who often – as in both cases this year – has been a TA in one of the courses and is doing research in the Min-Pet part of the spectrum. Both Kate and Christian have been studying ignimbrites, in New Zealand and Colorado, respectively. The award includes a year’s membership in the MSA and their wonderful bimonthly thematic journal ELEMENTS, along with a book of their choice from the MSA’s Research in Mineralogy series, an handsome certificate, and addition of their names to the plaque in our common room.
Congratulations Christian and Kate!
