Rachel Beane '93 receives 2018 Neil Miner Award

Rachel Beane ’93 has been awarded the 2018 Neil Miner Award by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers. The award was presented at the Geological Society of America’s National Conference in Indianapolis. Rachel’s award follows closely on the one given to her Williams senior thesis advisor, 2016 awardee Bud Wobus. The full text of her citation from NAGT is below. Congratulations, Rachel!

“Beane is the Bass Professor of Natural Sciences and the asociate dean for academic affairs at Bowdoin College. There she teaches and mentors undergraduate students in geology. She has developed and led numerous NAGT and On the Cutting Edge national workshops and webinars wth particular focus on support for faculty at the beginning of their careers and for enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the geosciences.”
